Guess Who's Getting Coal In Their Stocking?
Our health insurance company, that's who! Andrew has not checked into Westchester Medical Center for the second round of the R Hyper CVAD that's waiting for him, because our insurance company will not approve any further treatment, as WMC is out of network. Never mind that he's in the middle of care for a complicated disease, or that we were given all indications that they would approve the rest going forward .... blah, blah, blah. It' so boring and reprehensible, that I can't even talk about it anymore. It's taken 2 very stressful days to sort it all out -- we are now being forced to start from scratch with our 4th hospital and third set of doctors. We next head up to Albany Medical Center (IN OUR NETWORK!) on the 28th to have yet another oncology office visit, and hopefully convince the doctor to admit Andrew immediately for his very overdue 2nd round of chemo. I feel like one of those families that the politicians are always inviting to their speeches -- you know, the husband with two little children who has a deadly cancer, and the insurance company denies treatment right before Christmas Day? That's us!

Oh my god, this is unbelievable. I'm so sorry; this is so unfair and should not be happening to you. Is there someone we can beat up for you? I bet we could be there in a couple of hours.

ReplyDeleteOnly in the new and improved America! Does anyone out there speak humanity anymore? Let's hope the insurance CEOs are enjoying their bigger bonus on Jay's behalf. Love to all

So sorry to hear of your troubles with the insurance company. Too many people I know have experienced the same. It’s time for the family man that lives in the big house, along with all of his extended family throughout the country, to hear from people like you and your friends. We need to scream ‘our government is preventing our right to choose’. May not be the right time for you, but I’m sure you will have followers…anyone have a law background? We all live in different areas around the country, we should generate a letter, distribute copies to friends request them to sign and send. We continue to pray for you . . . remain strong, positive and kick some a**. Know that you have a wealth of support behind you, even from afar.
ReplyDeleteLinda & Jay,
ReplyDeleteWhat an unfortunate turn of events, adding more stress that you don't deserve; but please keep the faith. Your care in Albany should be just as good. You have good family, wonderful friends; a great support system. Focus on the positive. Don't let anyone or any stupid insurance company bring you down.
Oh shit, really?! I'm so sorry you have to deal with all this crap on top of everything else. It must be beyond frustrating. I hope everything goes well at Albany Med and that you can move forward quickly without any more delays. Thinking of you all and wishing you some peace this Christmas.
